October is generally the month when the white truffle season stars in Italy. White truffle fairs and festivals are being organized in various regions where this delicacy can be found.

On October 6th starts the
Alba White truffle festival that lasts until November 18.

There is also a
Dunkey Palio in Alba on the first Sunday of October. During the Dunkey Palio the nine districts of Alba compete in a donkey race for a painted silk cloth, the Palio. The Palio race is preceded by a grand procession through the streets of the town.

There is also the white truffle fair in
Moncalvo the last week of October. See: white truffle and white truffle festivals.
